Whether painting the portrait Alla Prima or Grisaille via layers of paint/glazing, the structural landmarks of the skull and face are imperative for a realistic portrait painting. The classes will focus on the developing a working methodology for understanding the head in terms of masses, planes, and forms. Colour mixing and paint application will also be studied as to achieve a realistic portrait painting.
